Jake and I are starting up our comic strip challenge again. We have to post 9 panels by the end of each Wednesday or we have to buy lunch for the other person. It doesn't matter what the comic strip is, just that we have to make them.

I was frustrated one day and my friend sent me a text saying "Be happy". It gave me the idea for this comic. It took me awhile to this one, it's why I didn't post a comic on Friday because I was working on this. Hopefully I can get faster so that I can do this length more often in one day.

I wanted this comic strip to be this profound look at Spirit guilds and how they help us and how we listen but as I found by trying to make it doing that is quite a challenge. I normally put more time and effect into this piece but since it was due on wenesday and I am now just gettig it done I jut tried to finish it and so it feels rushed and crappy and I don't really feel like posting it but this is only an exercise and sometimes you just got to post something to keep the habit.

Ocean Food

This idea was really funny when I was discussing it with my friend at work as I looked at a crap salad that I didn't want to eat. I told my friend that I was going to actually go up to the guy in the grocery store and ask him about ocean food. It seemed really funny at the time and I'm not sure if this comic really does it justice. Of course I chickened out and decided to make a comic strip about it instead.
Do we call it seafood instead of oceanfood because seafood is a shorter word with one less syllable?

Yeah, made it to double digits! It doesn't seem like a lot to do that but for me that is a big thing. This comic is a little simple but that is what this blog is for, experiments and to try things out, see what works and what doesn't. Everyone strikes out at baseball when they are still learning, I am going to keep swinging away at these comics until I start hitting and then keep hitting until I am the home run king of comics.

It's always interesting to me how I am people's best friends for a minute or two and how they will praise me and tell me how great I am but really what does that mean? A bigger tip? I often have different scenerios go threw my mind and this is one of them, except for the skipping part I just found that really funny and I laugh every time I see it.

Well here is post two. I haven't got to the shading yet because I am still pushing hard to get it posted on time which I will do one of these days. As well, I am still working with the size of Ethan. His body looks different in panel two, oh well. I'm excited to keep going with this though, to see what comes of it.

Okay it's my first day posting a comic and I already missed the deadline, but I got a comic done! It's okay for me though because the more I do it the faster I will get and the kinks will be worked out. For example, I used to have the fonts I used for the text but when I reloaded windows on my computer I lost them and I had to go download some comic fonts all of which weren't really what I was looking for. I did eventually find what I was looking for. Oh and I went through like 7 different possible names and ended up going with the simplest of them all. Here are a few of the names that I had considered: Stellar Ethan, Blank ethan, The Zaps, Dragon Grab Dream(DGD), Light Runner road, Ethan, Stellar Ethan Zap or S.E.Z., I turned this down due to the similaties to SEX

Stellar Ethan

Ethan Zap- A socially awkward guy who is very interested in the Meta psychical world and studies and experiments with it a lot. Loves dancing, interested in art, takes after his father and likes inventing. Para-balloning,
Abilities he currently has:
Telepathy- The kind I have where I am never sure if it is me or not. Also communicates with others and can suggest things in there mind when they are thinking and coming up with something (yes like a Jedi) (use the panda bear example with tiffany).
Readings for others, but kind of random
Prophecy- random thoughts or dreams about things, humor comes from the randomness and how it ties into what ends up happening.
Auras- some times sees them
Healing- at times

On the shy side

James Allan Zap –brother of Ethan. Named after the author of “As a man thinketh” Is very much into sports and always has a girlfriend. The whiner, complains at things and is the most materialistic of the family. Ethan tell him theories and experiences but also makes fun of him as well, but not the actual theories, just his over zealousness. Over all they are friends and get along.

Jet Jettson- The best friend of Ethan and the super talented one that Ethan is usually jealous of. Is an actor and semi famous in the independent scene. Also is in a band and really good as well. (maybe the snowmen) Also gets into deep discussions with Ethan about life.

Maxwell Zap- The father, inventor and based off of my own father. Conservative and based in faith.

Mary Zap- Mother, Buddhist background.

Roger Zap- AKA Mr.Kook. Paranoid of squirrels attacking him because he steals there food that he taught them how to make, it actually is a drug of sorts for him and frankly he is addicted.

The comic strip is about Ethan and his life with the interesting characters that he lives with and his daily musings about life and spirituality.

A new perspective

A couple weeks ago I met this really cool girl on a plane when I was flying back from my brothers wedding. Anyway I had this dream about her and her sister. It was a really interesting dream and so I turned it into a comic strip. I'm sure it makes no sense to most people, I could explain it but it requires a long story which I don't feel like posting.

I finally decided on a name for my comic strip and the ideas are coming together. This comic strip posted here is kind of generic and doesn't go along with the strip to much but I did it more for myself and my focus. If you are wondering why I choose the name "Blank Ethan" you will see later on so I am not going to explain now.

I made this a couple weeks ago I just never scanned it in until today. Anyway, I see ways to improve it however that would mean a complete rewrite and it's okay now so I will just leave it so I can work on more comics. Oh and that's a hunk of meat by the fruit in case anyone was wondering.

Click on the image to read the comic strip. I wrote this comic strip after I told my brother Maxwell I started praying like the native americans were they give thanks to the animal they are eating. He just shook his head and said "that's my brother". I started praying like that to help me feel less guilty about eating meat since I feel like it's wrong to do so but I haven't figured out a way to do so since meat is such a big part of what I eat (it's every where in fast food places) and the most research I have done is finding out that tofu is a good replacement but have you ever tried tofu, it's not that great or at least the stuff I tried. One of these days.

This comic strip is from an experience that I had a couple years ago where I woke up from falling asleep on my bed before I changed into clothes I sleep in. My light was still on and after a couple hours of sleeping something woke me up. I began to get up and felt really weird. Nothing made sense, it was like I was looking at the physical world from behind it, I was both in the world and some place else that wasn't physical. Time blew my mind, it didn't make any sense to me and then I thought about eating and that seemed like a really weird concept to me as well the whole idea of putting objects into ones self seemed weird. For an entire minute I was in this state of being where I was in this world and the world I must have been in when I was awakened and it was really confusing and uncomfortable.
Finally I decided to start thinking about earthly things like how good it felt to eat, I took some deep breaths and I felt myself slide back into place and earth made sense again. Now the idea of not having time suddenly seemed strange instead of just moments before where time made no sense. It was like I was connected to something when I awoke and since my awakening was so sudden I stayed in that state for a short amount of time.
This is the best way I can describe what happened I was in a different dimension, probably the spirit world and was experiencing that. Then I was awake and the confusion came in from experiencing two places at once, my spirit knew what it was doing but my mind, the thing that I use to experience this world and dimension had no memory of spirit and so it was really confusing being in two places at once. Once I was able to move completely out of the spirit realm and back into my body life made sense again.
Years went by until I stated reading about different aspects of psychic phenomenon. Apparently there is something called astro travel where your spirit bi-locates when you are sleeping. It returns home for nurturing and recovery from this dimension we dwell in. The vast majority of the time we don't remember doing this- we can't unless we learn how to access our spiritual memory which I have yet to learn how to do.
When I read about astro travel I believed it because from my experience I knew that something was going on when I slept. I had often imagined that we live two lives, the one when where we are asleep and go to the spirit world and the one we live now. It always bugged me that we lived in the world where we had no memory of this other world and what went on. I never quite believed that this happened until I read about astro travel and that there are some who do it and have control over it and it began to make sense to me.
